Selling him to Manchester City from Sevilla in the first place, Monchi is now prepared to save Jesus Navas’ career by transferring him to Italy in the summer.

With more and more reports claiming the Spanish director of football is set to take over the position at AS Roma, Gazzetta dello Sport, who even go as far as calling him ‘Roma’s future director of football’, report Navas is one of Monchi’s targets.

Used very sporadically by Pep Guardiola this season, the Spain winger has only started 13 of his 26 appearances in all competitions, helping out with four assists, and a move away to rekindle his career in the summer seems the most logical solution.

The story originates from AS, who claimed the Italian’s interest in Navas on Sunday, but Gazzetta add a bit to it by going over whether or not the transfer would be feasible, and the answer is ‘yes’.

‘Yes’ with a big ‘if’, which is whether or not Roma qualify for the Champions League, which seems rather likely at the moment considering they are second, eight points ahead of fourth.

Navas is set to be available on a free in the summer, with the only problem being his wages (€3m/year), which would be affordable with the extra money granted by participating in the European competition.

If Roma do pick up Monchi from Sevilla, this could definitely be one of the transfers to look out for.
