As recently reported by the French media, Stade Rennais are interested in Leeds United midfielder Glen Kamara.

The 28-year-old is said to be a ‘priority’ for the Ligue 1 side, who are already working on a personal agreement with him.

Today, Rennes presented Frédéric Massara as their new sporting director, and Ouest France shares some interesting quotes from his press conference.

Kamara ended up getting a mention in the interview, and the club chief admitted that the midfielder is a player they like.

“He’s certainly an interesting player, and there are plenty of names that could come in quickly. I hope we can finalise things soon. We want to look for the players we think are best for what we need to combine in the team,” said Frédéric Massara.

Even though there’s now some certainty in the French press that Rennes are interested in Kamara, we’re still to see how much that move would cost the Ligue 1 side.

Leeds signed the midfielder in the summer of 2023, spending €5.8m on his arrival. He’s currently valued by Transfermarkt at €6m, and has a contract with the Whites running until 2027.

Perhaps the lack of promotion to the Premier League could motivate him to join Rennes, although the French side will probably still need some talks with the Whites for a deal.
