Galatasaray have confirmed the signing of central defender Ahmet Çalık from Gençlerbirliği after a series of hard negotiations.
The Turkish club are now looking to add another defender to their squad and AmkSpor report Galatasaray are interested in Sunderland’s Jason Denayer.
The Belgian defender joined the Black Cats from Manchester City on season long loan deal and has featured in David Moyes’ side regularly.
AmkSpor say Denayer is currently unhappy because he feels he can’t progress if he keeps being used in a midfield role by Moyes. The Belgian international wanted to join Galatasaray in the summer, but it’s claimed Pep Guardiola blocked the deal.
Still a highly popular figure in the Galatasaray dressing room, Denayer’s signing would be fantastic business for the Turkish giants.
AmkSpor claim Galatasaray CEO Levent Nazifoglu is now in England and will speak with Manchester City and Sunderland officials.
Denayer made 28 first team appearances for Galatasaray last season during his loan spell in Turkey. The 21-year old has played 11 Premier League games since joining Sunderland in the last window.
