NTV Spor’s Besiktas reporter Ovunc Ozdem claims Besiktas defender Domagoj Vida has rejected a transfer to West Bromwich Albion.
The Premier League side have been linked with the Croatian defender in this window after reports his compatriot Slaven Bili is keen to see him at the Hawthorns.
However, Ozdem says despite an offer Vida has decided to stay at Besiktas because he’s very happy with what he’s earning at the club.
Vida reportedly earns €3.4m a season, likely after tax, with Besiktas and Ozdem states West Brom’s offer, along with one from AS Roma, is below what he currently gets.
The defender has been with the Black Eagles since January 2018 when he arrived from Ukrainian side Dynamo Kyiv on a free transfer.
He’s been strongly linked with a transfer to the Premier League ever since his performances during the 2018 World Cup in Russia. West Ham United were said to be interested in the player a few weeks ago.
Vida has made three Super Lig appearances for Besiktas this season, and his contract will expire at the end of June 2022.
