With less than three weeks left in the transfer window, Celtic are in the market looking for a new left-back following Kieran Tierney’s move to Arsenal on Premier League deadline day.

Rosenborg’s Birger Meling has emerged as one of the targets.

After overcoming Maribor, Rosenborg will now face Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League play-off later this month.

Croatian outlet Index.hr are unsure if Meling will play both legs of the European tie against Dinamo because of his links to Celtic.

It’s claimed the Scottish club’s interest in the fullback has been ‘growing louder’ in the last two days. The Hoops view the player as an ‘ideal’ replacement for Tierney.

Rosenborg manager Eirik Horneland has already stressed the Norway international could leave the club and his comments will only increase Celtic’s hope of signing Meling.

Though Index.hr talks about Celtic’s interest in Meling, they do not make it clear if it’s their exclusive report or they have taken the information from elsewhere.
