Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer has refused to answer questions over the SFA’s decision not to hand a ban to Rangers goalkeeper Alan McGregor.

The former Scotland international appeared to kick out at the Celtic player during Sunday’s Old Firm game, which Rangers manager Steven Gerrard admitted happened.

Speaking to Nettavisen, Ajer was asked about McGregor not being handed a ban by the SFA: “I have absolutely no comment. It must be decided by the Scottish Association.”

Before Tuesday’s decision the central defender told the Norwegian press: “There’s not much about the situation I want to comment on. There will be many who take care of the situation in Scotland. Then it must be the way it is. I am just very pleased that we won 1-0 in such a big and important match. It was very important.”

Celtic ran out 1-0 winners over Rangers last weekend, taking Brendan Rodgers’ side to second in the Scottish Premiership table. The victory also put them four clear points of Gerrard’s Rangers side.

Ajer is currently away with the Norway national team as reaction to the situation continues. Former Celtic forward Chris Sutton has been critical over McGregor’s actions, saying this was a bad example to set to youngsters.

However, it’s reported in Norway the 20 year old is unfazed by what happened on Sunday and is totally focused on his country’s upcoming game against Cyprus.
