For the past few days the Spanish media has been full of the story of Sergio Ramos and him purposely picking up a yellow card against Ajax.

He was one of a number of players set to miss the second leg by getting the booking, and the story is that he preferred to sit out the return match in Madrid rather than miss out in the following round.

Another investigation has also been started into the Celtic versus Valencia game, and for the same thing.

Brendan Rodgers’ men lost 2-0 in Glasgow and the Spanish slant is that Celtic are no match for Valencia, and it will be considered a straightforward game in Spain.

Geoffrey Kondogbia picked up a yellow card in the 81st minute and AS report UEFA are looking into whether he did so deliberately, happy to sit out the return match against the Scottish Premiership club.

For Celtic, it won’t have any impact either way, Kondogbia will miss the match regardless of a lengthier ban or not. However, it should help provide some extra motivation, if Rodgers’ team is being taken so lightly.
