Saidy Janko left Celtic permanently in the summer to sign for Saint-Etienne, and L’Equipe believe it’s been a poor move for the French club.

On Sunday, L’Equipe have published a team of the best transfers into Ligue 1 from the summer, and a team of the worst… the ‘flops’, the ‘fiasco’ signings.

The former Celtic player has found himself as one of the latter.

Unable to convince Brendan Rodgers he had a meaningful future at Celtic Park, the switch to Saint-Etienne looked a good one for the young right sided player and perhaps it’s not quite the disaster the French newspaper present it as.

According to Who Scored ratings, there are several experienced Saint-Etienne players who have performed worse than the Celtic signing, and he’s only been there for half a season so far.

Some poor performances recently have clearly help the negative judgement, but given Janko only turned 22 years of age in October, he’s got plenty of time to convince Saint-Etienne they did the right thing signing him from Celtic.
