Returning to the first-team after go AWOL during the end of the transfer window as he tried to force a move to Celtic, Henry Onyekuru found his way onto the scoresheet again on Saturday, scoring the only goal of the game in a 1-0 away win against KAA Gent.
Earning a crucial win for KAS Eupen, Brendan Rodgers’ January target will now look to play as best he can to help his side avoid relegation, and also try and impress the many teams still looking at him.
According to David Liz, journalist covering KAS Eupen for L’Avenir in Belgium, a few more teams have joined Celtic in the race to sign the 19-year-old winger, notably RB Leipzig, Anderlecht, OGC Nice and Sevilla.

The last two’s interest in Onyekuru makes perfect sense considering the Ligue 1 side were keen on bringing Memphis Depay from Manchester United at one stage, while Sevilla have been looking at various options for their left-wing, including Anthony Martial.
The arrival of the these two clubs could be something for Brendan Rodgers and Celtic to worry about, considering both are also en route to qualify for the Champions League this season, and could potentially offer the winger more money in the summer.
However, a move to Celtic Park appeared to be the winger’s priority this January, despite other sides also being reportedly interested, and it could very well be Onyekuru has already made his mind up about Scotland being his next destination.
The progress of Moussa Dembele under Brendan Rodgers will be a boost to Celtic when trying to attract young players, and that could be the case with Onyekuru.
One we’ll be following with a lot of interest over the coming months.
