Refusing to play for his team last week, Henry Onyekuru was trying to force a move to Celtic.
However, the nearer we got to transfer deadline day, the quieter the story got, suggesting the player’s move to Celtic Park wasn’t on the cards anymore.
Brendan Rodgers spent most of Tuesday trying to fend off Chelsea, interested in both Craig Gordon and Moussa Dembélé, and it seems the Nigerian winger was completely forgotten about.
Celtic had allegedly made a bid of just above €1m for the 19-year-old, which KAS Eupen rejected wanting triple that amount before letting Onyekuru leave.
According to Grenz-Echo in Belgium, the player has now made contact with his club again, and was expected on Wednesday evening to hold talks with the board about his behaviour over the past week.
The club’s manager, Jordi Condom, has already made it clear he wasn’t counting on the player anymore, but things could change if the talks go well.
Then again, if he doesn’t play between now and the summer, a move away would definitely be on the cards, and Celtic could get another chance at getting their man.
