Celtic goalkeeper Dorus de Vries has told the Dutch media he’s playing for an immense club. The 35-year-old signed for the SPL champions from Nottingham Forest in the summer, and it seems he’s already become Brendan Rodgers’ first choice keeper.

Speaking to Voetbal International ahead of this week’s Champions League clash with Barcelona, De Vries spoke about the size of Celtic. The Dutchman understands why Rodgers thinks Celtic are one of the biggest is sides in Europe, and is happy to join a club that has a tradition of buying Dutch players.

“The manager has recently called Celtic one of Europe’s biggest clubs. Based on tradition, the stadium, the fans. In the past few years several Dutch players have represented the club. Virgil van Dijk, Pierre van Hooijdonk, Glenn Loovens. They will all agree the club is immense,” said the Celtic star.

De Vries arrived in the summer, and made his debut earlier in the season in Celtic’s 4-1 win over Aberdeen. De Vries also started this weekend’s 5-1 victory over local rivals Rangers.
