Celtic have rekindled their interest in Michel-Ange Balikwisha as Brendan Rodgers wants to add the Royal Antwerp player to his squad for next season.

The Scottish champions failed to sign him in the last two windows and even made an offer in January, which was confirmed by the forward.

On June 11th, journalist Sacha Tavolieri stated Celtic are back in the mix for the 24-year-old and have held talks with his agent.

Tavolieri has now taken to X, formerly known as Twitter, to report that Brendan Rodgers’ side haven’t forgotten about the Belgian. However, he explains Celtic’s management have ‘slowed down’ the operation due to internal factors.

Despite this, the player and Celtic are keen for the move to ‘go through’ this summer. The journalist adds Royal Antwerp are asking for €6m to sanction his sale.

His contract expires in 2026, and it’s unclear whether Celtic are willing to meet Royal Antwerp’s request.

Balikwisha struggled with a muscle injury in the recently concluded campaign, forcing him to spend most of the season on the sidelines. He only started to get regular minutes from March and finished the season with four goals and three assists from 17 games.
