Portuguese newspaper A Bola has a story today about Atlético Madrid’s chase for Porto defender Diogo Queirós.
They say the Colchoneros have been following the 20-year-old, and even scouted him in Portugal’s U20 match against England earlier this week.
Then speaking of other clubs who were at the match, A Bola names the likes of Celtic, Manchester City and Southampton.
Neil Lennon’s side aren’t often at matches in Portugal, so Celtic may well have their eye on someone specific.
The Portuguese press hadn’t reported the list of clubs who had emissaries at this game before, so it’s interesting to see it coming up now.
A Bola doesn’t make it clear if Celtic could be watching Queiroz, but states he had a good performance at that game, so maybe the Hoops are now interested in the player as well.
Queiroz has been attracting interest from foreign clubs for a while now. As recalled by A Bola, the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Bournemouth and Roma were all mentioned in the chase.
As the player has no appearances for Porto’s first team so far, this is probably the time to get him before his price goes up.
