Celtic are completing the signing of Lanus youngster Alexander Bernabei, according to reports from the Argentine media.
Journalist Cesar Luis Merlo claims there’s a ‘verbal agreement’ for the left-back to move to Celtic Park and work with Ange Postecoglou this summer.
He revealed Celtic and Lanus are now said to be ‘exchanging documents’ for the transfer, before adding the agreement is for ‘90% of the player’s rights’, which means the Argentine side are set to keep 10% of a future sale.
For now, Merlo doesn’t bring any details on how much Celtic are spending to take Barnabei.
Since he’s just breaking the news, we should certainly get more details on this transfer in the coming hours.
The 21-year-old, who’s mostly a full-back, can actually play on all positions on the left side of the pitch.
He’s valued by Transfermarkt at €3m, which is quite a big price for defenders in the Argentine league, and that has to do with his potential, shown both at Lanus and with the national team’s youth ranks.
