Since last month, we’ve been covering Marseille’s desire to sign Olivier Ntcham from Celtic.

Reports from France have made it clear that the midfielder was on the club’s wish-list for the summer window, but the transfer wouldn’t be easy to achieve.

The reason for that is Marseille are in need of money to make this kind of addition, so before going for Ntcham, they would have to make some important sales.

Now although these efforts to get hm seem to be on hold, Ntcham doesn’t mind making his desire public.

Speaking to L’Equipe, the 23-year-old has expressed his wish to join Marseille, and especially, to leave the Scottish side this summer.

“Celtic have given me a lot, but it’s the best solution for my development,” Ntcham told L’Equipe. “The interest of Marseille is flattering. It is a very big club with very big support. If I went to Marseille I would blossom.”

Regarding the heavy links with a move to Portugal from last year, Ntcham claims it was his wish to leave Celtic at that time as well: “I was disappointed I didn’t go to Porto last summer.”

With the player making his desire to leave so clear, perhaps Celtic will find a way to get rid of him this summer, regardless of Marseille coming for him or not.
