After a collision with Livingston defender Craig Halkett, Celtic’s Kristoffer Ajer was left with a fractured eye socket.
The centre-back went under the knife and after being operated on successfully, Ajer spoke to Norwegian television channel TV2 to provide an update on when he could be back in action.
“Everything went well and I can train in a week. All I need to do is be careful. The first thing is that I have to avoid contact exercises. The plan is that I can play football again in four to six weeks,” the Hoops player explained.
Celtic are third in the Europa League group table with six points after four matches, level on points with second place RB Leipzig.
Brendan Rodgers’ side have two crucial fixtures in the Europa League, an away trip to face Rosenborg and a home clash against Red Bull Salzburg in December and it is likely that Ajer will miss these matches.
His latest injury setback forced him to miss Norway’s matches during the ongoing international break.
Former Norwegian footballer Jesper Mathisen is a close friend of the Bhoys defender and he earlier admitted the 20-year-old was “downhearted” after picking up a second injury in three months.
