On August 29th, Lyon president Jean-Michael Aulas confirmed his side’s interest in Celtic’s Moussa Dembele as the Ligue 1 club are looking for a replacement for Mariano Diaz, who rejoined Real Madrid.
According to L’Equipe, Bruno Génésio’s side found an agreement with the 22-year-old on Wednesday and they are now trying to do the same with the Scottish Premiership club.
They need to convince the leaders of the Hoops to sanction the striker’s sale in the final days of the transfer window.
Celtic want to first find a replacement for the former Fulham man and only then allow the attacker leave the club, which has also been echoed by Brendan Rodgers.
The Bhoys manager has already revealed “a club” is interested in acquiring the Frenchman’s services and his agent is in discussions.
Dembele’s contract with his current employer runs down in 2020 and Celtic have already turned down two Lyon offers for their player.
L’Equipe say talks are expected to continue today.
