Two days ago, we relayed news from Germany that Celtic and Brentford have held talks to sign Bayern Munich II player Christopher Scott on a potential free transfer in the summer.

On Tuesday, Sky Deutschland reported the 19-year-old’s ‘departure is almost certain’ from the German club, and he’s been ‘flirting’ with Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic.

It was also explained the Bundesliga winners could let the teenager leave and collect a fee of around €600,000 in the process, after exercising the unilateral option to extend his contract until 2023.

Claims in Scotland have indicated Julen Nagelsmann’s side have until May to extend the Germany U20 international’s contract and they will take it up, in order to avoid losing him for free.

These claims are backed by Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg, who took to Twitter to state this is the ‘most likely scenario’. He claims Bayern will extend Scott’s contract and sell him for a fee of around €500,000 to €1m and also include a buyback option.

The €1m figure means Celtic would have to pay nearly double what was reported yesterday, but the Hoops still maintain a chance to secure Scott’s services.
