Celtic legend Pat Bonner believes his former club need to get rid of players before they can think about recruiting. New Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has made just one signing since arriving at Celtic Park.
Speaking to the BBC, Bonner was asked about Rodgers’ objectives in this transfer window. The ex-Republic of Ireland international said the aim at the moment is to have a clear-out, and then look at which departments need to be strengthened.
Bonner believes this could take some time, but still expects Celtic to make a few signings before the deadline.
“Getting players out first and foremost will be the objective. It will take a bit of time. I would expect Brendan to bring in a few before the deadline,” said the former Celtic No.1.
Since Rodgers was installed as the Celtic manager, only Moussa Dembele has arrived at the club, but this week the ex-Liverpool boos confirmed he hopes to make a couple of signings this summer.
