Claims linking Barcelona with Falkirk’s Tony Gallacher have of course made their way to the Catalan press, with Celtic dragged into the equation.
Celtic are one of a number of others linked with the 17 year old, and Brendan Rodgers’ club right now look to be a far likely destination than Barcelona.
Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo have tried to calm the Barcelona idea down, saying the player is simply a ‘hypothetical’ possibility for the club’s B team. The asking price of €1m would be relatively easy for Celtic to meet and Mundo say it would be manageable for Barcelona’s second string too, but Gallacher would have to be more than that.
Whilst the youngster may be impressing coming through the ranks in Scotland, there would no doubt be feeling in Catalonia that La Masia would have just as good coming through.
With a raft of English clubs also interested, it’s not too hard to argue that Gallacher would be better served with a move to Celtic, rather than getting lost in a vast quarry of similar level talents.
It’s claimed Celtic have ‘knocked on the door’ of the player. Not literally, at least we don’t think so, Mundo Deportivo are simply claiming that, unlike Barcelona, the Celtic Park club have more concrete interest and have moved forward with it.
