Celtic are reportedly one of the clubs who could take Rodrigo Riquelme away from Atletico Madrid in the summer.

Marca brings a story today saying the youngster could be leaving the Colchoneros at the end of the season, despite all the potential he’s been showing for their youth ranks, and the Scottish Premiership could be his destination.

Atletico Madrid would like to keep him, but the problem is that he can no longer wait to get first team football, and they can’t offer him a place among the big boys right now.

That’s why his departure is a real possibility, and Celtic are one of the clubs who have ‘knocked on his door’ to know more about the chances of signing him.

Riquelme recently had a very good performance in Scotland against Rangers, and that made the Gers interested in him as well.

English and Spanish clubs are also said to be keen.

Besides offering Riquelme a place in the first team, the big reason why Celtic could attract the youngster is their frequent place in the Champions League. Since his contract expires this summer, it’s all a matter of convincing the 19-year-old.
