Celtic have Ajax’s Benjamin Tahirović on their transfer agenda and Brendan Rodgers’ side will face competition to sign him.

That’s according to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, and he mentions Celtic when covering the latest about the 21-year-old.

He claims Lazio have shown interest in the defensive midfielder, who could also be an idea for Fiorentina, likely in January. In addition to the Serie A duo, Celtic and PAOK like the player.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina international spent two years at AS Roma before moving to the Eredivisie side in 2023. He made 37 appearances in all competitions last season and Coventry City wanted to sign him in the summer window.

Ajax invested around €7.5m to buy the midfielder and the Championship side were ready to offer more than that. He turned down Coventry City and this reportedly frustrated the Dutch club. He’s been restricted to 215 minutes from three games for Ajax this season.

Di Marzio claims Tahirović recently changed agents, now managed by Davide Lippi, and ‘wants to leave’ the Dutch club.

Amid interest from Celtic and PAOK, the Bosnian’s priority is to return to Serie A. Brendan Rodgers’ side have to convince Tahirović to change his mind if they were to bring him to Celtic Park.
