Schalke’s proposed move for Celtic defender Christopher Jullien has collapsed, despite him already undergoing a medical.
That’s according to Sport 1, who say the proposed move has ‘fallen through at the last minute’ despite the defender having completed a medical check.
According to their information, Schalke and Jullien could not agree on contract terms over his proposed move to the German club.
Further talks were held to try and find an agreement, but that did not prove possible, with Schalke director Rouven Schröder and the player’s advisors unable to find a ‘common denominator’ for an agreement.
That means the deal has now fallen apart, despite Schalke having reaching an agreement in principle with Celtic over a loan deal with an option to extend included.
The Bundesliga side will now turn their attention to other targets as they look to find a new leader for their defence this summer.
Jullien, in turn, will now return to Celtic, although whether he will remain at Celtic Park or look for an alternative move this summer remains to be seen.
