Following the 1-1 draw with Celtic, Borussia Monchengladbach’s general manager Max Eberl had a bit of a rant. German newspaper Bild say ‘The frustration of the late 1:1 (76) against Glasgow Celtic probably played a role’, but Eberl’s ire was directed more domestically.

The Gladbach boss believes that the club’s fixtures of late haven’t been fair, with the insinuation being it all played a part in Celtic coming back into the Champions League match.

“They would never do such a thing with Bayern Munich. However this was come up with at the league, it’s an absurdity. We have so many games that it’s extremely annoying.”

Eberl’s anger may well be understandable. Gladbach first played Celtic in Glasgow at Celtic Park on October 19th.

After beating Celtic, they then lost to Bayern Munich on October 22nd, before beating Stuttgart on the 25th, drawing with Eintracht Frankfurt on the 28th, before facing Celtic again on November 1st.

Tiring during the Celtic match, as far as Eberl is concerned, Gladbach now face their next match against Hertha Berlin. Tomorrow.

Six games in 17 days.
