Feyenoord travel to Celtic Park to take on the Bhoys in the Champions League on Wednesday.
SoccerNews had a chat with former Celtic winger Derk Boerrigter to preview the European clash.
Brendan Rodgers’ side have suffered four defeats from five group stage games this season and this includes a 2-0 defeat when Celtic faced the Eredivisie winners in the Netherlands.
Celtic have managed to win only five of their last 11 matches in all competitions. The 37-year-old is of the belief Feyenoord could get another win tomorrow night, despite the Bhoys having the advantage of playing at Celtic Park.
“I don’t think Celtic are in the best shape. Feyenoord should be able to make mincemeat of them, but the disadvantage is that Celtic has a great twelfth man at home. The crowd goes crazy, especially at Champions League matches. That will really be a seething arena,” he said.
Boerrigter is well aware of the atmosphere at Celtic Park and believes the home fans could help Rodgers’ side against Feyenoord, even if he does think the Dutch side should win easily.
“The 60,000 supporters all get behind their club and make noise from minute one to 90. It would be nice for Feyenoord to get them quiet, but that’s not going to be easy. Celtic don’t have the better squad, but they do have the advantage of the home crowd,” Boerrigter explained.
Rodgers’ side will finish at the bottom of the group table irrespective of the result against Feyenoord. Despite this, Boerrigter expects Celtic to put up a fight tomorrow.
“Yes, the Scots have enough sense of honour to give it their all. They will. So, Feyenoord can get their act together,” he added.
