There’s some bad news for Aston Villa and Celtic fans who were excited with the possibility of signing Victor Lindelof from Benfica.
According to Fabrizio Romano from Calcio Mercato, Inter Milan and Juventus are expected to start a private battle for the defender soon.
As Juventus have already lost the fight for Gabigol, they’ll now make a heavy effort to achieve the signing this time, as both clubs are constantly monitoring the player.
Lindelof currently has a €30m release clause, which Benfica are looking to raise because of the European club’s interest in the 22-year-old.
Aston Villa’s and Celtic’s interest was recently reported by A Bola, as both British clubs have recently sent scouts to watch the player at Portuguese league match between Benfica and Braga.
We had already said that given the heavy competition from English clubs (Manchester United and Chelsea were previously linked), it would be a surprise if Lindelof ended up at Aston Villa or Celtic.
Now, with this war between the Italian sides, things are even more difficult for them. In reality, it has to be considered, despite the A Bola claims, that Villa and Celtic had their eyes on someone else.
