Former Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino could pull out of a deal to purchase Brescia, and instead buy into Genoa. Yesterday it was announced Cellino had sold his remaining shares in Leeds United after three years in England.
Unione Sarda have reported Enrico Preziosi is looking to sell Genoa, and Cellino could be interested in the Serie A. It’s been claimed Cellinio is set to hold talks over the purchase of Genoa despite recent reports he was close to taking over at Brescia. Cellino had plans to get Brescia into Serie A, but Genoa are already in the Italian top flight. It’s also been claimed former AC Milan director Adriano Galliani could join up with Cellino at Genoa.
Cellino has this week completed the sale of his remaining Leeds United shares to Andrea Radrizzani, and the expectation in Italy was he’d then go straight after Brescia. But a quick U-turn may lead him south-west to the Liguria club and a lifestyle he perhaps could enjoy more.
The former Leeds United chief has always had a desire to return to Italian football following his difficulties in England, but it’s now not known whether it will be with Brescia or Genoa.
