On December 23rd, we covered claims from France which stated RC Lens are ready to pounce on Simon Adingra as he wasn’t happy at Brighton & Hove Albion. They also said the winger could leave the Premier League club in the winter market.

Fast forward to deadline day and the 23-year-old is still at Brighton and is likely to finish the season at The Amex.

That’s according to Ivorian journalist Malick Traoré, and he took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to provide the latest.

Fabian Hürzeler has used Adingra as a substitute in the league as he made six starts from 16 appearances. The Ivory Coast international has three more starts in the EFL Cup this season, taking his overall tally to five goals and an assist from 19 matches.

Traoré claims seven clubs have shown keen interest in the Brighton player in this window, including Marseille and RB Leipzig.

Former Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi is in charge at the French club. The journalist claims Marseille made a £20m bid and there was a ‘categorical refusal’ from the Seagulls.

That’s because the English club have made it known to the attacker’s interested parties that they want to retain him.

Traoré adds ‘hats off to Simon for his exemplary attitude in this situation’.
