The Catalan press are full steam ahead with big coverage of the Champions League clash between Barcelona and Manchester City.

As the match is closer, it’s now time for a bit of provocation, so Mundo Deportivo have published a story saying Pep Guardiola failed to sign four Barcelona players this summer.

They take claims from the British press to say that one of City’s main targets was Luis Suarez. As the club couldn’t sign the Uruguayan, they went for Messi (as a second option, why not?), who also didn’t accept the offer.

So Manchester City tried to convince Neymar, and the club director Ferran Soriano called the player’s father. But the Brazilian rejected the bid and ended up signing a new deal at the Catalan side.

There was also Sergio Busquets, who said the only manager who could take him away from Barcelona was Pep Guardiola. The midfielder also signed a new contract recently, so Mundo Deportivo take this as a clear rejection, although the evidencs of an approach from City isn’t really convincing.

Claudio Bravo, on the other hand, made his way to Manchester City. But according to the story, it’s only because Barcelona were betting on Ter Stegen, so the Chilean keeper decided to pack his bags and go.

Mundo Deportivo end their article saying Manchester City were the club who spent most money this summer, and they list all of the clubs’ signing. They also add that the Premier League club couldn’t hire Barcelona’s doctor Ricard Pruna, who politely rejected the offer and stayed at the Camp Nou.

So there.
