Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti wants to bring Real Madrid duo Lucas Vázquez and Isco to Goodison Park in an effort to keep James Rodríguez at the club.
That’s according to Defensa Central, who continue to insist that the Colombian star wants to return to Spain in the summer.
A few weeks ago, the website claimed that Rodríguez was keen to end his time with Everton this summer and return to Spain, with it claimed he had grown tired of several things, such as the weather and culture.
This was later laughed off by Ancelotti and Rodríguez himself, while we pointed out it may have been a simple case of mischief-making from the Madrid based website.
However, they are sticking to their claim, stating that Rodríguez ‘continues to have doubts’ about staying at Everton and ‘does not rule out’ the possibility of returning to Spain.
The Blues, though, do not want to lose their star mand and are working to convince him to stay for as long as possible.
Ancelotti is the player’s ‘maximum supporter’ and thus wants to make life at the club better for the player by signing two of his former teammates, Isco and Vázquez, from Madrid.
It’s stated that these are the ‘two new requests’ the Italian has made to Everton, with Ancelotti feeling signing both would help him to convince Rodríguez to remain on Merseyside.
Whether Everton will grant this request isn’t made clear, but this isn’t the first time either player has been linked to the club.
Isco has been regularly named as a target over the last year, while Everton were named among the suitors for Vázquez in the last few weeks, given he looks set to be available on a free.
Both players would undoubtedly be improvements for the Blues, so the rumour makes sense from that point, although the idea that they would be brought to the club just to appease Rodríguez seems a bit of a stretch.
