First thing on Thursday, we covered what L’Equipe were saying about Cardiff and Emiliano Sala, and it wasn’t pretty for Nantes fans.

According to the French newspaper, the Ligue 1 side’s coach, Vahid Halilhodzic, was said to be furious about the Argentine’s recent trip to Wales to discuss a transfer since it was kept from him.

The player was subsequently placed on the bench for Wednesday evening’s game against Nimes, which Nantes went onto lose 1-0, which didn’t help the manager’s mood.

20 Minutes also have an update on the situation, first corroborating L’Equipe’s claims about Halilhodzic’s wrath (he found out about Sala’s trip via social media), before moving onto what’s actually going on regarding the transfer.

Confirming Ouest-France’s claims of a reduced offer (€15m) arriving on Nantes’ desk on Wednesday from Cardiff despite a previous argument, the newspaper, even despite a source telling them it was ‘over’, believe a transfer is still on.

They explain the deal ‘isn’t closed’, but that it could simply take more time to reach an agreement, with ‘negotiation games’ ongoing.

Sorry Cardiff fans, but there’s still plenty left in this one.
