Former Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino has told the Italian media he would welcome Nice forward Mario Balotelli to Brescia.

Cellino recently purchased the Serie B side, after selling his remaining shares in Leeds United earlier this summer.

Calciomercato have reported on comments Cellino made in his press conference when asked about Balotelli joining Brescia: “I know Balotelli loves Brescia. Well, if he wants to come he can talk to us. But not at the end of his career: we are not a club for the retirement of footballers.”

In June, Cellino sold his remaining 50% stake in Leeds United, which has allowed him to return to Italy and purchase Brescia… and he’s once again full of life.

The Italian has plans to get Brescia back into Serie A in the next few years, but it’s unlikely Balotelli would arrive at this stage of his stage, despite his admiration for the club.

Cellino’s reign at Brescia is likely to be eventful, as Cagliari and Leeds United found out during his time with the two clubs.

In his three years in England in charge of Leeds United, Cellino brought controversy to the club, and many of the Elland Road faithful are glad to see the back of him.
