As Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo today features an interview with Portuguese manager Ricardo Soares, they had a brief chat about Chelsea star João Félix.
The coach’s conversation was mostly about his work in Portugal and other players, but once the Blues’ forward was mentioned, he made sure to praise the 23-year-old.
Ricardo Soares was asked how he sees Félix’s evolution since he left Benfica in 2019. And the coach shows great belief in the player’s potential.
“João Félix has a natural talent. He is an excellent player and I think that in the future he can be one of the best players in the world,” Ricardo Soares told Mundo Deportivo.
“In Spain he played some good matches, but he has a lot more ability and I’m sure he’ll show it in the future, because we’re talking about a player with incredible talent, he’s fantastic.”
“Perhaps at first the adaptation was not as quick at Atlético as everyone expected, but it must not be forgotten that there was a great economic agreement, and there is a great weight in the figures that were paid for him. But in the future he will show that those millions were well delivered because he has a lot of quality.”
Since joining Chelsea in January, João Félix has one goal in eight appearances for the Blues. Despite the red card which didn’t leave a good impression on his arrival at the club, he soon found his place in the team and has been contributing positively for Graham Potter’s side.
That’s why recent reports from the Spanish media claim the Blues are already working on getting him permanently signed from Atlético Madrid, as the loan from the Colchoneros does not include a buying option.
Félix is currently valued by Transfermarkt at €50m, and has a release clause worth €350m.
