Chelsea manager Antonio Conte may have tried to explain the absence of David Luiz from the game against Manchester United as a tactical decision, but he wasn’t really able to convince many people about it.

The fact the Brazilian defender couldn’t even get on the bench has raised many doubts about his future at the Stamford Bridge, even if it’s just been one match.

That’s why when speaking to ESPN Brasil after the game, Chelsea winger Willian was asked about the matter, but didn’t really want to open up much.

“I don’t know. I think it’s an option, the manager’s option. I think only he can explain it,” Willian told ESPN Brasil.

Regarding the win, he said: “A classic is always important to win. Especially a strong team like Manchester. The team played well, managed to have a great game and should be congratulated for the win.”

David Luiz left Stamford Bridge smiling and even greeted reporter João Castelo Branco, but refused to talk to the Brazilian press.

Another player who was interviewed was Cesar Azpilicueta, who talked about the assist he gave for Alvaro Morata’s winner. As reported by ESPN, from the seven goals scored by the striker in the competition, five of them happened after a pass from his compatriot.

“The goals he scored were similar, no?” Azpilicueta said. “Very happy for him because I know he hasn’t been through an easy month. Now he won us the three points and had a great match.”
