Over the past few weeks, reports coming out of Portugal have talked about Newcastle United interest in SC Braga youngster Roger Fernandes.
On July 17th, A Bola reported the Tyneside club could offer around €20-25m to sign the 16-year-old.
Four days later, the same outlet explained Newcastle don’t want to miss out on signing the talented forward. It was also stated Braga are waiting for the final offer from the Magpies.
Apart from Eddie Howe’s side, Ajax, Atlético Madrid and Borussia Dortmund are said to be interested in the Guinea-Bissau attacker. Fernandes has now received offers to make a move away from his current employer and this is revealed by his agent.
“I have received unusual offers, we can even say crazy, those that prevent you from sleeping, but everything will go through Braga. He won’t leave Braga until Antonio Salvador [Braga president] wants him to,” Foot Mercato quoted his agent as saying.
It’s to be noted Foot Mercato don’t make it clear whether they interviewed Fernandes’ representative or if they have taken his comments from elsewhere.
The teenager came through the ranks of Braga’s academy and was promoted to their first team in 2021. Fernandes scored three goals from 11 appearances in all competitions last season. His contract expires in 2024 and includes a €40m release clause.
