With Edinson Cavani never hiding his wish to return to South America, Argentine and Brazilian clubs continue to be hopeful of signing him in the near future.
The latest side to join the line of pretenders is Corinthians, who according to Globo Esporte, have now made an approach for the Manchester United striker.
It’s claimed that there have been talks between the club and his brother and agent, even though the Cavani contract denies the negotiations for now.
“We have to wait a bit, we will see what possibilities exist. Obviously, if any team from Brazil comes up with a good project, we can always listen. I have an obligation to send all options to Cavani,” said Walter Guglielmone.
Globo Esporte writes that Cavani does not close the door to a return to South America, as he wants to be close to Uruguay. And this isn’t the first time Corinthians have made contact for his signing, as they had been in touch when he left Paris Saint Germain.
Following Globo Esporte’s story, ESPN reporter Flavio Ortega wrote on Twitter that Corinthians president Duilio Alves dreams of three centre-forwards: Cavani, Robert Lewandowski and Luis Suarez.
The Manchester United player, however, is the only who has shown interest in moving to South America. His contract with the Red Devils expires in the summer of 2022.
