Francesco Acerbi to Leicester City isn’t going anywhere in the Italian media. Yet again there are several articles on the possible transfer in the Friday Italian sport newspaper, with Corriere dello Sport covering the improved offer of €14m from the Foxes.
Strangely, online Corriere dello Sport say the offer is €13.5m, there’s every possibility there’s been some confusion with the conversion rates.
Anyway, despite Leicester ‘slowly’ increasing their offer to this level, it’s stated Sassuolo still don’t to sell the central defender.
Claudio Ranieri is said to want the player ‘right away’ at Leicester City, rather than waiting until the summer and getting a deal done then.
Acerbi’s contract runs out in June 2018, and he turns 29 years of age in February. Sassuolo are 11 points clear of the relegation zone, so it may be considered odd that they’re not listening with more receptive ears to Leicester.
There’s every possibility this has all been dreamt up to make Sassuolo look strong in front of their fans and/or to help Acerbi get a new contract.
Time may tell.
