Quite the regular under José Mourinho, Moussa Sissoko continued with the Portuguese what he had started with the manager’s predecessor, Mauricio Pochettino.

The French midfielder is keen to impress as much as possible this season with the 2020 Euros looming this summer, and while he has the reputation of being a Didier Deschamps favourite, he could end up dropping down the pecking order if he doesn’t play, such is the competition in the France national team.

Renewing his contract with Tottenham back in 2019, the 31-year-old is tied to the London club until 2023, but that hasn’t stopped clubs from knocking on Daniel Levy’s door with some questions.

That’s according to the player himself, who revealed as much in an interview with beIN Sports, relayed by Foot Mercato.

He said: “Am I going to stay here? I don’t know. My contract ends in 2023. I could tell you yes but we know things go very quickly in football. I’m trying to have the best possible season with my club. There’s the Euros at the end of it and I hope to be there.

“The external things, I let my agent deal with them. There have been calls from various clubs, but I remain focused on Tottenham”.

Sissoko has now entered his fifth season with Tottenham since his last minute transfer from Newcastle United back in 2016, and has made 190 appearances for the club, scored five goals and assisted another 16.
