On Sunday Portuguese newspaper O Jogo broke the story that Rangers are looking to sign three Benfica players. Pedro Caixinha is working to complete moves for Dálcio, Fábio Cardoso, and Daniel Candeias, as part of his plan to move Rangers closer to Celtic.

In Dálcio’s case that means making a special effort to get to Ibrox and sign for the Scottish Premiership club. Dálcio will have to leave whichever Portuguese beach he’s currently holidaying by, because Rangers want things done quickly, report Notícias Ao Minuto today.

Caixinha is securing the player for Rangers on a loan move, or least that’s ‘how everything points out’ right now.

Dálcio, who’s actually called Eucidalcio Gomes, is set to complete his transfer before the end of the week as Rangers’ pre-season kicks off on June 5th. The early training sessions will take place because of the Europa League play-offs later in the month.

The 21-year-old was signed by Benfica from their neighbours Belenenses in 2015, but hasn’t managed to get a chance in the Eagles’ impressive first team. He has played fifty games for the B squad so far, being used in central midfield or on the right wing.
