It was a very busy weekend for scouts in Portugal, as many of the local league matches had a very big list of emissaries attending. Arsenal were among them, as they sent officials to watch three different games.
According to Record, the club sent former striker Luís Boa Morte to watch the clash between Belenenses and Benfica.
The official saw a comfortable 2-0 Benfica win, with goals scored by the left-back Alex Grimaldo and the former Fulham striker Konstantinos Mitroglou. The Greek’s partner in attack Gonçalo Guedes was picked as the man of the match.
Mitroglou was already linked to Arsenal at the end of last season, but he ended up staying in Portugal as Benfica used their purchase option after the loan.
Arsenal also watched Porto’s match against Arouca, according to A Bola, which the Dragons easily won 3-0. André Silva, who’s been linked with the Gunners during the past few months, led the team by scoring two goals.
Midfielder Danilo, who was also involved in rumours regarding an Arsenal transfer this summer, had a good performance as well. He got a seven rating by O Jogo.
And the less important match was the one which attracted more interest. Incredibly, twenty five scouts attended the league tie between Paços Ferreira and Nacional, which ended with a 1-1 draw.
With no big stars involved, the attention all went to goalscorers Tiago Rodrigues and Ricardo Valente.
