Burnley are willing to let Darko Churlinov leave in the January transfer window, with his agent admitting his client wants to return to Schalke.

WAZ cover the potential transfer today and have been in touch with Churlinov’s agent Mehmet Eser to get his stance on the matter.

Reports over last week indicated the Churlinov could be an option for his former club as they look to bolster their forward options in the January transfer window.

Those reports made it clear that the forward is still well loved at the club, where he spent a highly successful loan spell earlier in his career and became a firm fan favourite.

He’s had something of a miserable time since, particularly after joining Burnley, where he’s failed to impress Vincent Kompany and had to spend large parts of the last year in hospital with blood poisoning, something that ruined a move away in the summer.

WAZ now pick up on the story and say Churlinov is ‘about to return’ to Schalke and potentially become their first signing of the winter window.

They explain that Burnley ‘would be willing’ to loan Churlinov out next month as he is not a part of their plans at this point in time. If that is the case, their ‘first point of contact’ will be former club Schalke.

And a deal is there to be done too, according to his agent, who says the player would be more than happy to return.

“Darko still has Schalke in his heart and would help. However, FC Schalke and FC Burnley would have to play along,” he said when asked on the matter.

In other words, Churlinov is keen as mustard and it’s up to Burnley and Schalke to work out a deal that doesn’t seem all too complicated to get over the line.
