Burnley want to take advantage of Nottingham Forest’s efforts to sign Igor Jesus, Jair Cunha and Cuiabano to demand an unpaid fee from Botafogo, according to journalist Venê Casagrande.
Over the past week or so, several claims from Brazil have stated Nottingham Forest have made advances to close deals for the Botafogo trio. They are set to join Nuno Espírito Santo’s side after the Club World Cup.
On Thursday, Jesus confirmed that he’s about to move to Nottingham Forest this summer.
Burnley sold Vitinho to the Brazilian club in August of last year and haven’t received the transfer fee. Therefore, Casagrande states the Clarets have filed an official complaint with the Brazilian football association, CBF.
He reports Burnley are demanding Botafogo pay €7.5m for the 25-year-old’s transfer.
It’s not clear whether Botafogo haven’t paid the entire fee in one go or if they missed on the first payment.
Casagrande reports the CBF director, Enio Gualberto, responded to Burnley’s complaint on May 22nd.
His reply to Burnley was: “Thank you for the information provided. We confirm that Botafogo has been notified of the Proposal by the FIFA General Secretariat. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you require further clarification.”
Burnley, who have secured direct promotion to the Premier League, have been keeping a close watch on the developments at Botafogo.
With Nottingham Forest working on deals to sign Igor Jesus, Jair and Cuiabano, Burnley have again asked Botafogo about the unpaid fee, aware the Brazilian club will be set for a financial windfall.
