Burnley could make a return for Anderlecht goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen after they ‘pulled hard’ on him in the summer.

That’s according to Het Laatste Nieuws, who believe Vincent Kompany and his team will not have forgotten about the Anderlecht goalkeeper.

They cover the goalkeeper today and how he has lived up to his status as ‘goalkeeper of the future’ since taking the place of Hendrink Van Crombrugge.

With a tally of four clean sheets in seven games he has managed to help Anderlecht enjoy something of a course correction and also put himself ‘in the spotlight’.

That is both a blessing and a curse for Anderlecht, who know the player has admirers and could ‘explode his value’ in the coming months. Indeed, there is a feeling he could be sold for ‘several million’ and perhaps and soon as next summer.

They already fended off interest from Burnley last summer when Kompany ‘pulled hard’ for the player to join him at Turf Moor.

The recommendation came via goalkeeping coach Jelle ten Rouwelaaar, who had worked with the player at Anderlecht, but an offer of €5m plus bonuses and issues around a work permit ‘threw a spanner in the works’.

That, though, is seen as more of a ‘delay’ than a ‘reprieve’ and there is a feeling Burnley will come calling again sooner or later, particularly with Verbruggen now starring in the first team.
