Following their fantastic season in the Championship and subsequent promotion, Burnley always knew that life in the Premier League was going to be a struggle, but perhaps not quite as difficult as it has been.
That’s why, after just three wins in 21 games, the Clarets are trying to improve their defence, with Montpellier’s Maxime Estève on their radar, according to L’Equipe.
The French outlet even go as far as saying that Burnley are expected to ‘quickly send an offer’ for the 21-year-old centre-back as they continue their hunt for a left-footed central defender.
Estève is seen as an ‘opportunity on the market’ for many clubs, since his contract ends in June 2025, and Burnley are going to try and ‘overtake the competition’.
The first offer from Turf Moor is believed to be on its way and should arrive ‘before the end of the transfer market’.
The amount, however, hasn’t filtered through, but Montpellier are ‘already aware’ of the interest from Burnley, and have already ‘activated their networks’ to find a replacement, meaning that an exit for the young defender is ‘possible’.
Now, Burnley just need to send their bid over to see what the reaction will be.
