Five days ago, we covered a claim made by Foot Mercato that Burnley are interested in FC Metz star Georges Mikautadze. It was also reported the Championship winners need to act fast as AC Milan have already made an offer to sign him in the next window.

Operating mainly as a striker and at times on the left wing, he’s scored 24 goals and managed nine assists from 39 games this season. His fine displays and statistics have pleased Vincent Kompany.

According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the Burnley manager ‘still loves’ the 22-year-old and ‘could try again’ to secure his services in the summer.

Last summer, the Clarets saw their €2.5m bid for the Georgia international get rejected by the Ligue 2 side.

It has paid off for Metz as Mikautadze has starred for them, winning the Player of the Season award on Monday.

Kompany has identified Mikautadze as a target because he’s the type of striker that’s ‘needed’ at Burnley next season. Tavolieri also explains that the English club asked for information about Gent star Gift Orban.
