Burnley are one of the sides interested in Viborg winger Serginho, who is determined to remain in Europe this summer.
That’s according to journalist Sebastião Sousa-Pinto, who names Burnley among a host of clubs interested in the 24-year-old.
Serginho has a list of interested suitors after a superb season in Denmark in which he was undoubtedly Viborg’s best player.
He managed six goals and 14 assists in the league and six goals and 20 assists in 31 games in all competitions this season, continuing to impress after arriving from Estoril in 2023. He has eight goals and 26 assists in 60 games since his arrival.
This summer is seen as the one in which he may move on as his current deal expires in 2026. That means either Viborg tie him to a new deal or risk losing him on a free in a year’s time. He will also be free to talk to club’s about a pre-contract agreement from January 1st.
That is, presumably, something that they will want to avoid and Sousa-Pinto reports that Burnley are one of the sides eyeing up a move for him.
“The one you probably clicked on is Serginho, a winger for Viborg,” he said on his YouTube channel.
“He is a winger who has been mentioned by some clubs. Porto has made exploratory contacts, this is exclusive news, they have made exploratory contacts with Viborg in Denmark to sign him.
It is worth remembering that Serginho only has one year left on his contract with the Danes, which ends in June 2026, which means that this is the best opportunity to get a good deal with biggest asset.
“At the moment, Viborg are asking for €4m and have already accepted an offer from Al-Wassal in Dubai, which is coached by Luís Castro and which Pedro Malheiro recently arranged. Serginho refused because he wants to stay in Europe.
“Therefore, there are several interested clubs here, Hamburg, Augsburg, Burnley, Marseille, Lille. There are interested clubs here, there is nothing very concrete at this stage in relation to these clubs, but they have Serginho in mind.”
