Sporting Clube de Portugal striker Chermiti is still waiting to complete his move to Everton, with ‘bureaucratic’ issues delaying the process.
That’s according to Record, O Jogo and Correio da Manhã, who all say the move for the Portuguese forward is being held up but should still be completed.
Record kick things off by stating that Chermiti is waiting for Everton to solve ‘bureaucratic questions’ regarding his work visa before formalising his €15m transfer and signing a five-year deal at Goodison Park.
O Jogo back this up, stating the player’s move to Everton is ‘practically completed’ but remains pending the finalisation of several ‘procedural issues.
They state that Chermiti is still booked in to undergo a medical later this week, but it is now expected that he will not be available to represent the Toffees for their season opener against Fulham on Saturday.
Correio da Manhã, meanwhile, state that the striker is expected to travel to Liverpool today to undergo the various medical checks after the deal was held up by ‘some setbacks’.
They don’t provide details on what those setbacks are but given the other two newspapers say it is bureaucratic, then it’s likely that. We’ll take bureaucratic as work permit issues, which it’s surprising nobody thought of ahead of time given Brexit.
Either way, the deal is basically complete and waiting for those final issues to be solved and there’s even one newspaper claiming he could travel today so that’s something for Everton fans to hold onto.
