For months, sections of the German media have been talking up interest in Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sané perhaps beyond the point of reason.
The player’s contract with Bayern Munich expires at the end of June and there’s been claims of interest from multiple Premier League clubs including Manchester United, Arsenal and Newcastle United.
All the while it’s felt like the claims were being fed by information from the player’s camp in an attempt to pressure Bayern Munich into offering higher wages than they otherwise would have have.
Now the 28-year-old, who turns 29 in January, has granted an interview to SportBild, who carried some of the claims, and insisted his focus is Bayern Munich and being an important player for the Bundesliga side.
SportBild put it to Sané that Arsenal and Manchester United are interested in him, and asked the player if the Premier League appeals to him.
He’s quoted as saying: “I have fondness for the league, I still watch certain games on TV. But the appeal for me lies in the club where I can show my best performance, develop and win titles. I have that at FC Bayern. This is where I have my biggest challenge and goals.”
As stated earlier, any interest from Arsenal and Manchester United has likely been exaggerated and that’s on the basis it exists at all.
