Eddie Howe currently has Alexander Isak, Callum Wilson and William Osula as the three strikers at his disposal for Newcastle United.
Wilson’s contract runs down in June while 21-year-old Osula is limited to a backup role this season. Isak has starred for the Magpies and has been linked to a few top clubs.
Newcastle could look for a new striker in the summer window. Claims from the UK have stated they are keen on Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface and held talks to sign him.
Bild have relayed this and then provide their own information on the Bundesliga winner’s stance on the 24-year-old.
The Nigeria international came close to leaving Xabi Alonso’s side in the winter market as Al-Nassr showed keen interest. The Saudi Arabian club had an agreement in place with Bayer Leverkusen but ended up signing Jhon Durán from Aston Villa.
Bild claim the German club ‘wouldn’t be averse’ to making money from the player’s sale in the next window. This should please Newcastle, but the report states there’s ‘no contact’ between Newcastle and Bayer Leverkusen at this point in time.
Despite being open to sanctioning his sale, Bayer Leverkusen have no pressure to sell the frontman.
He’s not impacted by the failed move to Al-Nassr and is happy at Bayer Leverkusen. They are also happy with him and a renewal beyond the next window isn’t ruled out.
If Newcastle want to sign the Nigerian, they have to convince both him and his club.
