Following an interview with Manchester United’s website which had big coverage in Portugal, Bruno Fernandes has now had a live chat on Instagram with Portuguese singer Carolina Deslandes.

One of the quotes which has been doing the rounds in his home country’s media was the one where he said he’d only wear red if playing for the Red Devils or the national team.

Due to his old club Sporting being city rivals of Benfica, the midfielder says he’s received a few harsh messages about it.

“I received a lot of comments saying that I don’t have the quality to play for Benfica. But I have colleagues who played for Benfica and left and who say they will never play for Sporting. It’s normal, I created bonds with Sporting that I hadn’t created until now,” said Bruno Fernandes (via Record).

“Maybe for the moments and for everything that happened. Also for the people, we went through very difficult things inside and at the same time it was very good. We had a mishap in the middle, what happened at the training centre, it’s no secret that it touched everyone.”

Carolina Deslandes is a friend both of Bruno and of his wife Ana Pinho, so the player spoke a little about his marriage as well, recalling the early days in school.

“She refereed my games at school. Did she favour me? No! She once gave me a yellow card for complaining to the referee. She came from the other side of the field, came to me and gave me a yellow card. This is true.”

The couple are about to have their second child, having revealed in March that it’s a boy. And Bruno says he’s even tried to convince his wife of a specific name, but he lost that battle.

“He’ll be called Gonçalo,” said Bruno, joking with Portuguese footballer Gonçalo Paciencia (via Nova Gente).

“Gonçalo Paciência is getting to know now, first hand. It’s not because of you, Gonçalo, if it were because of you he wouldn’t have this name (laughs).

“I wanted Bruninho Júnior but I had few people supporting me in that name. I had to give in.”
